Non-US persons (not US citizens or residents)

We don't promise 0% withholding: the IRS lets a withholding agent choose whether to withhold on the return-of-capital part, so it depends on your broker. US citizens and green-card holders living abroad give their broker Form W-9, not W-8BEN, so non-US withholding doesn't apply to them.

  • Default US withholding 30% U.S. withholding on the dividend (E&P) portion paid to non-U.S. persons, or a lower treaty rate with Form W-8BEN/W-8BEN-E.Verified Source: Strategy SEC filing · Strive SEC filing · Last verified 2026-10-26

Reg. 1.1441-3(c)); any over-withholding can come back through a broker correction or Form 1040-NR.Verified Source: Strive SEC filing · Last verified 2026-10-26
